Is it Worth it to Stage Your Home?

By HomeBay

Generally, for homes priced over $1 million, we recommend considering staging. For homes below $500,000, we do not. Read on to learn why!13659-Living_Room.jpg

Staging is Expensive:

When you stage your home, you're hiring an interior decorator plus a furniture rental company. These companies typically require you to sign up for a minimum term of three months. We generally see price quotes between $10,000 and $15,000 for three months worth of staging of entire homes between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet. You can sometimes decrease staging costs by only staging a smaller portion of the home.

Staging has the benefit of temporarily turning your home into a Crate & Barrel showroom while you try to sell. But at lower price points, it is difficult to recoup this money spent. At higher price points, it's easy. If you fall into the lower price point category, follow these DIY tips to stage your home yourself.

Want a Second Opinion?

Most home sellers think their homes are beautiful and their selection of furniture and decor is somewhere between adequate and outstanding. Sometimes, buyers disagree. If you are wondering if your home is in good shape to show to buyers, or if you aren't sure if it's worth it to stage your home, you can send us pictures and we'll help you decide.

All the statistics we have seen show staging to be quite helpful in leading to a faster sale at a higher price, so it's worth considering but only if it makes sense to your return on investment.
